I just put this grill together yesterday.Outstanding, and it works well.Gets hot very fast. We'll see how well the scale (sort of like a fish scale (as in weighing device) on the docks) works to tell you how much propane you have left. This is a special edition (in fact that is what it says right on it, "Genesis Special Edition") that includes both stainless steel grates, and five stainless steel flavorizer bars so you don't have to make that trip to Home Depot to buy them separately (for something like $150) when you get tired of the cast iron ones rusting.Worth it!

First of all don't worry about the casters. These are heavy duty, and two of them lock easily. As I have seen criticism of many times while researching the Weber Genesis 300 line, words are few and far between in the Assembly Instructions. The term "a picture is worth a thousand words" is maybe overdoing it a bit.Maybe 500 words. So where was there a problem?A tiny one, but right in the first assembly step. Each step shows you a drawing of the hardware needed, which corresponds to items on the hardware list. But in the first step it stipulates six of a certain Hex bolt, and then shows a particular washer. But it doesn't say how many washers to use, and there are two different uses for that bolt in that step. The drawing only shows (exploded drawing style) the washers being used with four of the bolts, and not the other two.So I call up Weber yesterday morning, and the lady tells me I don't need to use the washers, even though they are not used anywhere else, since they are not shown being used in that step on those two bolts.I shouldn't worry about left-over hardware.

So I put the grill together. You only need two people to lift the Cookbox Assembly out of the box, and then again to mount it on the frame after that is completed.Fair enough. But I don't get an answer back from Weber about the email I sent them the day before about the washer question until after I've completed the assembly. And he says I should use the washers. He doesn't get it that I needed to know that before I assembled, and that someone else there said I didn't need the washers. And he says the instructions say I should use all six washers, but it doesn't.Again, these are instructions of very few words.

So we used the grill last night, and it is great, wonderful, and the copper enamel finish is perfect.I purchased the official cover, which fits perfectly, and should last forever, the tool set, the killer Weber oven mitt, and the equally nasty looking grate brush.

But the left-over washers which are sitting in a drawer, and not on the grill, still bother me, so today I somehow remove those bolts from Step 1 (by now very hard to get to), and put the washers on them.I only have to remove a few parts of the grill, and in one case grind off a hidden corner of the Cookbox to put one back on.But now I can sleep easy at night.

So buy this grill (especially this model in whatever color strikes your fancy) and you can grill happily for years. And don't worry about those two left-over Clevis pins still in the bag. They gave you two already in place to hold the Shroud (I would call it the Lid) to the Cookbox Assembly during shipping.I just think it's better to know these things up front - or Weber could put the number 6 next to that drawing of Aluminium (are they British?) Washer O at the top of Step 1, like the Weber rep thinks it is, and save some of us some heartache. But Weber reps do answer the phone very quickly. No "you are number 20 in the queue, and can expect a wait of 30 minutes."

Happy Grilling!Ken Hecker
